Jesus may not love what goes on in the clubs and on the street. But He loves the people. Immensely. He died so that they may know Him now and forever. And He has passed that love onto me.
For that reason, I, along with several other women, go to Bourbon Street armed with gifts and love. We take these gifts to the men and women who work in the strip clubs. And we get to know them. We listen to their stories and try to share life with them. We are there for them when they need us, we pray for them, and we tell them about their Creator that loves them!
On Friday we have a really great opportunity to help these people. There is a set of “neglected” clubs that are a few blocks off of Bourbon. Business is slower. Women make less and are treated worse. I, with several other women, will be taking some very special gifts to the women who work in these clubs on Friday. Prayers for open doors (we are not always welcome at one of these clubs) and open hearts would be so helpful.
Another group has the opportunity to reach out to another club in a unique way. Last weekend, we found out that a girl who we know from one of the clubs was murdered. You can read more about it here. The club managers are allowing us to come and offer gifts and simply be there for them.
It is our deep desire that God will use this horrific tragedy for His glory. That people will see the brevity of life and seek the Giver of Life for redemption. That people will see the dangers associated with the sex industry. Ultimately, we pray that hearts will be softened to the God who loves them and lives will be changed! Please join me in praying for miracles on Bourbon Street.
